The first time I met Roland Da’Nevere, I forgot, more than once, that he was an elf. Truly, if not for his ears and keen eyes, I would never suspect he was not human. However, the moment I first saw him in action, there was no doubt about his heritage. He is as perceptive, precise, and intuitive as any elf I have ever met. He wears the mask of man or elf interchangeably and effortlessly, fitting comfortably in both cultures and speaking both languages. He never seems out of place, no matter his circumstances and finds some common ground with anyone he meets. He blends in easily both in the company of saints and sinners, often preferring the company of the most shadowy of characters. He often has an empty purse, but only because he quietly and freely offers whatever he has to those less fortunate than him. He does not hesitate to stand up for the weak or to challenge the misuse of power. He is slow to judge and quick to discover the best in people. He never takes credit for his good deeds and never holds a grudge. He cares more for his friends than he despises his enemies. However, in the face of true evil, he is fearless.
