Rinn Li’Adon: The story so far

Rinn was born in the year 1425 which makes her 72 years old (that’s 18 in elf years) when she arrives in Austernell. She was raised a part of a small community of her extended family in a primitive woodland tribe north of what men call “Crystal Lake.” She was taught to be wary of humans and always be ready for a fight to defend her home. When Rinn was still very young, a dark evil force shrouded in an eerie red light entered her forest, stealing away her cousins without a trace. Despite her father’s warnings, she decided to leave her woods in search of her lost family members. The journey led her to a secluded temple in the mountains where she communed with the spirits of nature seeking answers and learned how to fight. Having reached a dead end, Rinn returned home, finding her woods were empty and her family was gone. Distraught and ridden with guilt, she departed on a quest now to find them all, praying she will be strong enough to confront evil when she finds it. On her journey, she befriended a small red fox whom she named Shallot, a curious and mischievous companion that she feels understands her better than many of the humans she meets in the civilized world.

Rinn journeyed to Austernell hoping to inquire of the Ma’Raelian Expeditions caravan company about any sightings of her missing family. On her first night, she was accosted by several drunk Bravos in the Old Oak Inn and beat them so thoroughly, that she was arrested for battery. Upon meeting Dara, she immediately offered to assist her in any way she could. Rinn proved a kind, innocent, and thoughtful young lady, fond of delicious treats and the simple joys of life. Her friends quickly recognized her voracious appetite and her particular love of Daisy’s cakery. She offered a unique perspective on the culture of the civilized world, about money, the law, family, and friendship. Her naivety surrounding society and especially sensual innuendo stood in stark contrast to her intuitive sense of the failings of the human world and the hypocrisies that corrupted it. Nevertheless, she maintained an optimistic and lighthearted hope that Austernell could be healed. She found a kinship in learning from Roland who taught her about humanity in her language. In Regis, she found a wise and temperate mentor. In Moxie, she discovered a friend with the same passion for life and love of family. She found in Dara an older sister, struggling with grief, supporting her through some of her deepest doubts and darkest traumas. She believed in happy endings and fought for them.

Though she seemed a mild-mannered young girl, she possessed exceptional physical prowess and skill in hand-to-hand combat. With the grace of a gazelle she could outrun anything on two legs and some things on four. Her acrobatic talents allowed her to traverse walls and ceilings as easily as flat ground. Her reflexes and agility helped her to withstand impossible odds, even when outnumbered by men or monsters. Fighting beside Roland, she acts in perfect synchrony, as two hands of the same warrior. Alongside Dara, she is a fierce frontline warrior, plunging headlong into danger. She fought off a gang of drunk bravos in the tavern. She battled two ferocious ash wolves alone. She fought outnumbered in a hallway full of thugs. She fearlessly challenged a terrible vampire. She held her own against a hag’s grotesque undead minions. She saved Daisy’s cakery in the second Black Parade. She thwarted Charlie’s assassination of the Duke’s Council. But all this she did without hate or malice, fighting for her friends and what she believed was right. While she continues the search for her lost family, she has proven herself as a potent force for good in the fight against evil. She now joins her friends as they seek to stem the tide of evil over not just Austernell, but all of the Allied cities. She is a marvel of goodness and grace, but perhaps an even greater power is hidden behind those bright green eyes, waiting to be awakened.
